The Seaside Neighborhood Along the Texas Gulf Coast

Cinnamon Shore – Memory-Making on Mustang Island

There’s a community on Mustang Island which is paradoxically off the grid yet bustling with social life. Cinnamon Shore, the mastermind of Urban Designer Mark Schnell of the New Urbanist movement, is a seaside neighborhood consisting of stylish homes, eateries, and family-friendly recreation, but mostly, a lot of interactive fun.

A short drive from Corpus Christi Airport, the route to Cinnamon Shore extends along the Texas Gulf Coast to Port Aransas. Nestled alongside sandy dunes, Cinnamon Shore is a meticulously planned community featuring beach cottages, condominiums and luxury villas uniformly designed to create a charming residential destination. Cinnamon Shore is comprised of two separate yet similar communities, Cinnamon Shore North, and a 150-acre, Gulf-side expansion, Cinnamon Shore South.

The communities consist of homeowners as well as vacationers who secure the rentals via the Cinnamon Shore vacation rentals office. This friendly village makes an ideal family getaway offering an array of recreation and relaxation for every member of the family.

A daily itinerary offers a line-up of ongoing events. It’s easy to get around on foot, however bikes and golf carts are available if preferred. Activities like surf lessons, bike rides and beach days are available by day and evening cookouts, beach bonfires and movie nights are offered in the evening. Fishing poles are available from the rental office and Lake Colby, located in the center of the community, features a dock for an easy day of fishing. S’mores Nights, movies on the lawn, and outdoor music are just some of the fun to be had in the neighborhood. And special celebrations and events take place each holiday.

There are several pools on property to enjoy. Kiera’s Pool is an infinity pool on Lake Gavin and Dune Pool is located near a natural dune landscape. Stillwater Pool offers a more serene setting for those who want to lounge quietly. Kiera’s Pool and the Stillwater Pool are heated during the winter so swimmers can enjoy the water regardless of the climate. The community’s newest pool, with cabanas and infinity edge, recently debuted at Cinnamon Shore South to rave reviews.

While the activities offer fun and entertainment, the biggest perk of a getaway to Cinnamon Shore is the social life and connection that the area administers. In fact, the homes are built in close proximity to each other to encourage communication and friendship among neighbors.

The community is not only fun, it’s also beautiful. Palm trees line the sidewalks, and each street is methodically landscaped. The homes feature wrap-around porches, shiplap siding and the exteriors are painted in coastal hues ranging from blues and greens to sunny yellows and creamy whites.”

The rooms are spacious and elegant, and the interiors feature beachy chic detail elements and stylish barn doors. The built-in appliances are top of the line and the gourmet kitchen is every gourmet chef’s dream.

But most guests will likely opt not to cook, given the dining options on site:

Lisabella’s features seafood favorites, craft cocktails and homemade desserts. Chef Spencer Cox, who placed fifth at the 7th Annual World Food Championships™ in 2018, is the creative genius behind the menu, and on occasion the restaurant features tastings and wine-pairing dinners.

C-Bar and C-Bar Too are poolside eateries that feature tasty bites and beverages for those midday hunger calls.
Coffee Waves is the local café serving frozen drinks, gourmet coffee blends, and fresh fruit smoothies. Pastry items and croissant sandwiches are available for breakfast and gelato is served throughout the day.

Dylan’s Coal Oven Pizza features New York-style pizza, sandwiches, fresh salads and traditional Italian fare. The restaurant also offers a seafood feast prepared by its professional staff at any Cinnamon Shore property.

C Treats, an Airstream trailer in the center of town, is open during high season and special occasions, serving ice cream, snacks and sodas.

The Market, the community grocery store, is located near Coffee Waves and offers produce, snacks, fresh-pressed juices and other household necessities.

With a fitness center, a dog park and a host of opportunities onsite, an escape to Cinnamon Shore will prove to be a vacation that will reign in the family’s memory for a lifetime.
